Students should be dressed and ready to begin class on time. Classes begin with stretching and warm-up so it is very important for students to be on time to reduce the risk of injury. Regular attendance is essential if the student is to progress. Students who miss frequently have a difficult time keeping up and may begin to feel unsuccessful. If a class must be missed, it may be made up in an alternate class during the month in which it was missed.
FUNdamentals of Dance and Ballet: Pink tights, black leotard and pink canvas or leather ballet shoes. Jazz, Modern : Dress code is more liberal; however, leotards are preferred and all apparel is subject to teacher’s approval. Shirts and shorts are not to be worn over dancewear. Cover-ups should be worn outside the studio.
Fall classes begin Tuesday, September 6, 2022. The studio observes major holidays, i.e. Thanksgiving, Christmas and Spring Break. All other holidays and school free days will not disrupt the regularly scheduled classes. If school is canceled due to weather conditions, please call (804)694-5900 or refer to the website to verify cancellation and make-up schedule.
Dance is a disciplined art form and requires that students always exhibit behavior that is respectful and responsible. Students are expected to refrain from talking, give their full attention during class, and ask permission before leaving class. Hair must be off the neck and away from the face. Dancers in all ballet classes must have their hair in a bun. All food and gum will remain outside the studio. Please leave jewelry at home… it is distracting and catches on clothing.
Ample space is available in the parking lot facing the front studio entrance.
Parent’s signature on the Enrollment Application denotes that their child/children are physically, emotionally, and mentally able to fully participate in all dance activities. Current health status will be conducted by each family and will report to the director any Covid-19 related symptoms or exposure to anyone testing positive.
Tuition is based on a 35-week year and is due and payable on the first of each month. All accounts not paid by the seventh of the month will be charged a $5.00 late fee. Tuition is non-refundable and will not be reduced for missed classes. Returned checks incur a $50 fee. Payment may be made by cash or checks only. Checks may be mailed to PO Box 217, Topping, VA 23169
Report of Progress
A Report of Progress is scheduled once a year during recital years and twice a year during non-recital years in which family and friends of our students are invited to the studios to observe classes. This is an opportunity for your child to perform their newly acquired skills, and for you to share in their dance experience. Attendance is strongly encouraged and cameras are welcome.
Parents of our young FUNdamentals dancers may escort their dancer to the studio and observe from the door for a limited amount of time and return to the lobby to wait. If there is an issue they may return for a few more minutes. The area is very small and to keep everyone healthy and not cause distractions in class it is necessary that we manage the observations in this way. Please speak with the receptionist to arrange to observe.
