Policies

Attendance
Students should be dressed and ready to begin class on time. Classes begin with stretching and warm-up so it is very important for students to be on time to reduce the risk of injury. Regular attendance is essential if the student is to progress. Students who miss frequently have a difficult time keeping up and may begin to feel unsuccessful. If a class must be missed, it may be made up in an alternate class during the month in which it was missed.

Attire
FUNdamentals of Dance and Ballet: Pink tights, black leotard and pink canvas or leather ballet shoes.  Jazz, Modern : Dress code is more liberal; however, leotards are preferred and all apparel is subject to teacher’s approval. Shirts and shorts are not to be worn over dancewear. Cover-ups should be worn outside the studio.

Calendar
Fall classes begin Monday, September 14, 2020. The studio observes major holidays, i.e. Thanksgiving, Christmas and Spring Break. All other holidays and school free days will not disrupt the regularly scheduled classes. If school is canceled due to weather conditions, please call (804)694-5900 or refer to the website to verify cancellation and make-up schedule.

Dance Etiquette
Dance is a disciplined art form and requires that students always exhibit behavior that is respectful and responsible. Students are expected to refrain from talking, give their full attention during class, and ask permission before leaving class. Hair must be off the neck and away from the face. Dancers in all ballet classes must have their hair in a bun. All food and gum will remain outside the studio. Please leave jewelry at home… it is distracting and catches on clothing.

Parking
Ample space is available in the parking lot facing the front studio entrance.

Student Health
Parent’s signature on the Enrollment Application denotes that their child/children are physically, emotionally, and mentally able to fully participate in all dance activities.  Current health status will be conducted by each family and will report to the director any Covid-19 related symptoms or exposure to anyone testing positive.

Tuition
Tuition is based on a 35-week year and is due and payable on the first of each month. All accounts not paid by the seventh of the month will be charged a $5.00 late fee. Tuition is non-refundable and will not be reduced for missed classes.  Returned checks incur a $50 fee.  To limit contact, checks may be mailed to PO Box 217, Topping, VA 23169

Covid-19

All necessary protocols below are in place to ensure the health and safety of our students and faculty while continuing to offer the best possible training.  Procedures for in-studio classes will be made following state and local guidelines, scientific data for our area, as well as best practices in the industry and will be adjusted as needed.

Ø Faculty and Staff members will wear masks but dancers may remove them while dancing according to the CDC guidelines. However, dancers must wear masks when entering the studio and going to the restroom and upon departure.

Ø  The number of dancers at a time will be limited and class times will be staggered to facilitate social distancing and disinfecting.

Ø  Arrive only 10 minutes before class time and drive your dancer to the door and the teacher will greet them with hand sanitizer

Ø  The dressing rooms will be closed so arrive in dance attire wearing your cover-up. Bring your own water bottle with your name on it.

Ø  Leave personal items in the lobby and take only shoes and water bottle into the dance studio. (No food!) The lobby will be closed as well.

Ø  Social distancing of 6 feet will be practiced (10 feet while dancing) and hand sanitizers available.

Ø  Dancers will enter the studio one at a time and select their personal spot at the barre and center

Ø  Dancers will ask permission to use the restrooms and they will be disinfected after each use according to the CDC guidelines

Ø  At class dismissal time, drive up to the door and the teacher will bring your dancer out to you

Studio floors, barres, doorknobs, bathrooms, counters, etc are sanitized with a commercial grade disinfectant approved for Covid-19 viruses
